Model comparison
Coway Airmega Mighty2 vs Mighty AP-1512HH
“Mighty” and “Mighty2” are not interchangeable names for one configuration. Coway's older Airmega Mighty AP-1512HH and the newer Airmega Mighty2 AP-1512N are separate U.S. products with different controls, particle feedback and filter-care instructions. If you are comparing an old unit with a new listing, start with the model code on the label rather than assuming the newer manual applies to the older cabinet.
Both have a medium-room use case, but compare the rate
Coway's current AP-1512N manual lists 450 square feet in 15 minutes, 900 in 30 minutes and 1,800 in 60 minutes, using an eight-foot-ceiling basis. Scaling the 450-square-foot, four-change figure to 4.8 ACH yields a calculated comparison of 375 square feet. The page's 1,800-square-foot headline is the one-change-per-hour figure, not the faster room floor. For the AP-1512HH, the current manual directly states 361 square feet at 4.8 air changes per hour, 874 at two and 1,748 at one. Both are medium-room candidates; the small difference between those repeated-rate areas should not outweigh a control or care requirement. Coway lists separate smoke/dust/pollen CADR values for each rather than one generic number.
Numeric particle readings versus color-only status
The clearest functional split is feedback. The Mighty2 AP-1512N displays numeric PM1.0, PM2.5 and PM10 readings locally and uses a particle sensor for Smart/Auto fan response. The older AP-1512HH manual documents a three-color dust-sensor indicator, but no numeric PM concentration on the appliance. Both can use physical buttons and Auto; if a live number on the purifier is essential, the older Mighty should fail that need instead of receiving credit for an air-quality light. Neither manual establishes a dedicated TVOC or gas sensor just because activated carbon is present.
AP-1512N adds a sleep mode with a light-sensor path, Turbo, panel lock and a timer that can be set from one to twelve hours. Its Eco mode can stop the fan after the sensor has indicated Good air for ten minutes and restart it when pollution is detected, with a periodic wake after thirty minutes. The AP-1512HH instead documents Auto, manual speeds 1–3 and an Eco mode that stops after thirty minutes without detected pollution; its timer choices are one, four or eight hours. Neither mode description promises continuous fan operation. Choose a manual speed when continuous airflow is a requirement; do not assume the two versions behave the same just because they share a name.
The filter-care details are not a cosmetic difference
The Mighty2 manual says to remove the pre-filter to the right and vacuum or wipe it with a dry cloth every two to four weeks; Coway's page calls it washable, but the manual does not provide a wash procedure. Its MAX2 cartridge is a combined activated-carbon/HEPA assembly, with a twelve-month recommendation that may vary with pollution load. Coway's compatible filter page lists Fresh Starter+, Allergen+ and Intense Smoke+ choices, each a replacement option, and gives a six-to-twelve-month life note for the custom and HEPA filter elements.
The older AP-1512HH manual describes a different arrangement: washable pre-filter, separate deodorization filter and True HEPA filter. It recommends cleaning the pre-filter every two to four weeks, replacing deodorization media every six months and the HEPA filter yearly under its stated operating condition. Its compatible accessory page offers different filter profiles. Do not buy by “Mighty” alone or apply AP-1512HH's split filter schedule to AP-1512N's MAX2 assembly; check the exact purifier and cartridge model.
Which control-and-care plan fits you?
Choose the Mighty2 when local numeric particle feedback, a light-controlled Sleep path, lockable buttons and its single MAX2 care plan are useful, and the rate-based room comparison fits. Choose the AP-1512HH when color feedback is enough and its separate filter routine suits the owner. Both are local-control models in the product-specific sources reviewed here; do not select either for a must-have app connection. The Mighty2's current exact offer record lists white SKU 826439001629 and beige SKU 826439001643 under AP-1512N. Keep those codes distinct from the AP-1512HH offer and from the Airmega 200M, which is another observed Coway family.
