Setup and care
Winix T810 and T830 setup, display and Filter R replacement
The T810's filter sits behind a twist-lock cover underneath the purifier. Set it up with clearance around the cylinder, use its display as local feedback rather than a laboratory monitor, and keep the exact Filter R part number for the next replacement.
Before the first run
- Choose a firm, level indoor floor away from direct sunlight. Winix's manual recommends 12–18 inches of space from walls and nearby televisions, radios, humidifiers and other electronics; keep the full clearance in mind when checking whether the body fits.
- Turn the T810 upside down. Hold the bottom handle, rotate the filter cover counter-clockwise and lift it away.
- Remove the protective plastic around the filter already packed inside. Seat the all-in-one filter into the bottom opening as shown in the manual, return the cover and turn the handle clockwise to lock it.
- Set the purifier upright before plugging in. Allow the sensor's short startup period before interpreting the changing color or number display.
Use Auto, Sleep and the display deliberately
The five documented fan settings are Auto, Low, Medium, High and Turbo. Auto changes speed based on the unit's sensed indoor air quality. The numeric dust display concerns fine particles down to PM2.5 and the color indicator gives a broader category. Winix notes that the displayed pollution value can differ from official readings, so do not use it as a compliance instrument or medical decision tool. The light sensor can switch Auto operation into Sleep mode when the room becomes dark. You can dim or switch off the display without disabling the other controls. PlasmaWave is enabled by default on first power-up but has a dedicated button to turn it off; Winix says a chirp or buzz while it operates can be normal.
Clean and replace the filter
Winix's linked manual calls for pre-filter cleaning about every 14 days. Use a vacuum or soft brush on that pre-filter only; the manual says the filter cannot be washed. The integrated True HEPA and carbon canister is not a washable stage. Winix identifies genuine Filter R, part 1712-0118-00, as compatible with T810 and T830, and recommends replacing the all-in-one filter at roughly 12 months. Dust, smoke and other operating conditions can shorten that interval, so watch the replacement indicator rather than assuming every home will match a calendar estimate.
- Turn the unit off and unplug it. Invert it on a clean, protected surface.
- Unlock the bottom cover and remove the used canister. Check the new package for the protective shipping bag and remove it before installing.
- Insert Filter R fully in the direction shown in the manual, refit the cover, lock the handle and return the machine upright.
- Reset the filter-life counter using the filter-reset control as instructed in the manual, then confirm the replacement indicator has cleared.
Keep the model and filter identities exact
Filter R is a named replacement, not a generic size class. Check the number 1712-0118-00 when ordering; similarly named Winix filter families are not automatically interchangeable. The current T810 page and its newer linked manual use 418 square feet at the 4.8-ACH rating, while an older T810 manual states 410 square feet. If room capacity is a close fit, recheck the current manufacturer documentation that comes with the exact unit. The product specification lists 45 watts and a 23.8 dB minimum noise figure, but does not give a maximum noise figure.
The same care routine also applies to the T830
Winix’s newer shared manual names T810, T820 and T830, and its Filter R compatibility page specifically confirms the T830 as well as the T810. The T830 page lists the same 11.3-inch round body, 20.4-inch height, 10.2-pound weight, 45-watt rating and Filter R family. Its exact page was marked out of stock when checked on October 24, 2026; the review is still useful for identifying the model, but verify the exact seller and filter availability before ordering. The T830 page itself shows both 418 square feet and 410 in different places, so use 410 as the conservative lower published 4.8-ACH value for a close room fit. The T830 render uses blue-tinted intake slats; that visual difference is not evidence of different cleaning performance.
