Alen BreatheSmart 25i Air Purifier review

Compact, eight-pound BreatheSmart model with four speeds, app and local controls, particle Auto, color-ring feedback and three selectable filter configurations. Its hourly area statement is not a 4.8-ACH claim; sold-out PDP text and available Shopify offer data conflict on current stock.

A useful fit for

A current Alen BreatheSmart choice for a household that values particle-responsive Auto, local control and the exact model’s stated room claim, while accepting that a strict 4.8-ACH room size is not confirmed.

The main tradeoff

Current 25i offer, one indoor household room; use local or Alen Air app control, sensor Auto and the selected filter variant. Follow the exact filter/SKU selection and treat only a supported complete arrangement as eligible.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Does this Alen BreatheSmart 25i have sensor-based automatic fan-speed control?

The exact Alen current collection page and model manual/support materials document automatic particle-oriented speed adjustment; the matcher does not infer a gas sensor.

Explore this need in the finder →
Can this current offer be used for a strict 4.8-ACH room-size threshold?

No. The page gives an hourly/30-minute area claim but no 4.8-ACH basis; that claim must not be substituted for a repeated-air-change rating.

Explore this need in the finder →
Does the exact current model support app control and still have local buttons?

Alen lists Wi-Fi/app compatibility for the current BreatheSmart listing and the exact manual documents controls on the appliance; app control is not a smart-home integration claim.

Will a dedicated Night-mode requirement be satisfied?

No dedicated lower-airflow Night mode is established. On the 25i/35i, Sleep/light behavior turns the display dark while the purifier continues running.

The BreatheSmart 25i is the compact end of Alen’s current BreatheSmart family. Alen lists it as a 16.8-inch-high, 11-inch-wide, 7.3-inch-deep purifier weighing eight pounds, with four fan settings and an external 24-volt power adapter. That profile makes it easier to place in a home office, bedroom corner or other small room than the taller 35i or 45i. Its ordinary strengths are local buttons, a color air-quality ring, particle-responsive Auto and app scheduling—not a numeric air-quality screen or a verified 4.8-ACH room rating.

Use the stated area claim carefully

Alen’s exact product page says the 25i purifies up to 800 square feet every hour or 400 square feet every 30 minutes. These claims do not state the same 4.8-ACH basis used by the finder’s strict small-room choices, so I keep its 4.8-ACH field unknown. If a particular room needs a verified repeated air-change rate, do not treat the one-hour claim as equivalent. The page separately lists a 107-CFM CADR and speed airflow values of 45, 70, 90 and 120 CFM. They are manufacturer specifications and not an independent test result. A numerical CADR is useful when comparing a published threshold, but it does not supply an omitted ACH conversion.

The listing gives a 20–40 dBA noise range and a maximum power draw of 20 watts. Those facts are relevant to a desk or bedroom routine, though they do not prove silence at a chosen setting. The 25i has no ionizer on the current specifications. Its control ring provides color feedback, but it does not show a numeric PM2.5 value on the unit. Alen describes the Alen Air app as providing remote control, scheduling and filter status. The app is optional to the basic local routine, not a reason to classify the model as manual-only.

Three filter choices, one replacement routine

The offer has Essential, Advanced and Ultimate filter configurations. Alen describes the filter options for different combinations of particle capture and odor treatment; confirm the exact included cartridge before checkout rather than assuming every 25i box contains the same media. The main filter is replaceable, not washable. The prefilter surface can be vacuumed as part of upkeep. Alen gives a typical 9–12-month interval for the Essential filter and 6–8 months for Advanced or Ultimate. Those are manufacturer intervals, not a promise for every home; pets, smoke, cooking and fan speed can change service life.

Alen’s comparison page shows a color-changing ring and Wi-Fi compatibility for the 25i, and its manual documents local controls, Auto and light-dimming behavior. The Sleep function turns the display lights off while the fan continues to operate. That is useful if a glowing panel is distracting, but it is not a dedicated quiet-speed program. If nighttime noise is the decisive need, check the actual sound level at the speed you plan to run and do not infer it from the word “Sleep.”

Where it fits, and where it does not

The 25i is the least bulky Alen choice in this current lineup. The 35i adds a larger body and higher published airflow, while the 45i adds the option of a switchable ionizer and more airflow. The 75i targets broader manufacturer-reported room coverage and a larger chassis. Those are family comparisons, not evidence that a bigger hourly square-foot figure qualifies for an exact room-size tier. The 45i and 35i also have conflicts between product-page and generic Alen area claims. For all four models, keep a 4.8-ACH requirement separate unless an exact claim states that rate.

Choose the 25i when its small footprint, app-capable routine and straightforward local Auto controls suit your room, and when you can accept the filter subscription/registration conditions attached to Alen’s Forever Guarantee. Do not choose it for a dedicated pet filter, a switchable ionizer, a built-in adjustable fan, heating, a numeric PM2.5 display, or a strict 4.8-ACH size match. At the time of source review, the page displayed Sold Out while its Shopify offer data returned available variants. Treat current stock as uncertain and check the exact filter/SKU offer rather than assuming either signal guarantees fulfillment.
