A useful fit for

A current Alen BreatheSmart choice for a household that values particle-responsive Auto, local control and the exact model’s stated room claim, while accepting that a strict 4.8-ACH room size is not confirmed.

The main tradeoff

Current 35i offer, single indoor household room. Room-area, body-height, power, minimum-noise and weight values remain unresolved due to source conflicts. Follow the exact filter/SKU selection and treat only a supported complete arrangement as eligible.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Does this Alen BreatheSmart 35i have sensor-based automatic fan-speed control?

The exact Alen current collection page and model manual/support materials document automatic particle-oriented speed adjustment; the matcher does not infer a gas sensor.

Can this current offer be used for a strict 4.8-ACH room-size threshold?

No. The page gives an hourly/30-minute area claim but no 4.8-ACH basis; that claim must not be substituted for a repeated-air-change rating.

Explore this need in the finder →
Does the exact current model support app control and still have local buttons?

Alen lists Wi-Fi/app compatibility for the current BreatheSmart listing and the exact manual documents controls on the appliance; app control is not a smart-home integration claim.

Will a dedicated Night-mode requirement be satisfied?

No dedicated lower-airflow Night mode is established. On the 25i/35i, Sleep/light behavior turns the display dark while the purifier continues running.

The BreatheSmart 35i is a compact floor or tabletop-adjacent purifier in Alen’s current four-model BreatheSmart range. It has app control, a particle-responsive Auto setting, a color-changing air-quality ring and a four-step fan sequence. Its current product page also lists four airflow rates—66, 98, 135 and 190 CFM—and a 190-CFM CADR claim. These details give it a different role from the manually controlled personal purifiers in the wider category: it can adjust itself and report an air-quality color, but it does not offer a numeric PM2.5 value on the cabinet.

Do not size from a disputed area number

The product page states 1,400 square feet per hour or 700 square feet every 30 minutes. Alen’s generic area guide gives a lower 35i figure. Neither of these page claims states the finder’s 4.8-ACH basis, and the difference between the two official sources is unresolved. That means a strict room-area requirement should not use either figure as proof of capacity. The listed CADR and airflow are useful separate manufacturer specifications, but they do not repair the missing common air-change basis.

There is also a dimension conflict inside the exact product page: the details section gives 20.6 inches high, while the FAQ gives 20.3 inches. The stated width is 13 inches and depth 7.6 inches. A room plan that depends on height or weight should wait for a consistent manufacturer measurement; the model is small relative to the 45i, but not a tiny desktop unit. Alen gives a maximum noise figure of 42 dBA, while the minimum figure conflicts between product-page blocks. Do not choose it using an exact low-speed decibel limit.

App and filter routine

The 35i page describes the Alen Air app for remote operation, scheduling and filter status. Its text also describes app-connected readings for PM2.5, VOCs, CO₂, temperature and humidity. The official manual explains the local controls and automatic-speed routine. The front ring gives color feedback, and the manual supports automatic particle-oriented fan adjustment; none of this is the same as a numeric PM2.5 screen mounted on the purifier. Alen lists the 35i as lacking an ionizer, so an ionizer on/off requirement points to the 45i or 75i instead.

Three current filter configurations appear in the offer: Essential Pure, Advanced Fresh and Ultimate Odor. The exact SKU is therefore important. A Pure filter is the straightforward particle-oriented choice; the other options add odor-oriented media according to Alen’s descriptions. The available page does not make every filter a specialty pet cartridge, so do not assume that selecting “Odor” qualifies as a dedicated pet-allergy filter. The replaceable media cannot be washed; the prefilter surface can be vacuumed. The current page gives typical Pure and odor-filter replacement windows, but actual life varies with use and the chosen cartridge.

What the questionnaire changes

Choose app control only if you will use scheduling or remote adjustment; local controls are also documented, but that does not make the 35i a manual-only appliance. Sensor Auto matters if you do not want to select a fan speed whenever conditions change. On the other hand, if a numeric display, ionizer, separately adjustable fan, or verified 4.8-ACH rating is essential, this model does not meet that need on the evidence reviewed. Its Sleep control dims or extinguishes the display illumination while the purifier continues running. It should not be treated as a separate quiet airflow mode just because the lights go dark.

Compared with the 25i, the 35i is the step up for a larger manufacturer-published area claim, additional airflow and a slightly broader control routine; compared with the 45i, it is shorter and omits the ionizer. But the 35i’s disputed room claim and height make those differences poor substitutes for a confirmed specification. Use the exact manufacturer dimensions and only a room rating that shares your required ACH basis when the fit is strict. For less exacting needs, the 35i’s compact body, particle Auto, app, color ring and selectable filter choices form its useful case.

The Forever Guarantee is not a blanket promise: Alen conditions it on registration and its required filter-subscription terms. Refills are a continuing cost and routine, so check the exact Pure/Fresh/Odor cartridge before buying. This is a current collection model whose product page showed Sold Out while its product-offer feed reported variants available when checked. That disagreement is a stock-status caveat, not a reason to erase a reviewed model or promise immediate availability.
