Alen BreatheSmart 75i Air Purifier review

Large-format Alen purifier with five speeds, particle-responsive Auto, a color ring, local controls, optional switchable ionizer and selectable replaceable filter configurations. The exact collection offer is not linked SKU-by-SKU to the 75i versus 75i V2 manual generation.

A useful fit for

A current Alen BreatheSmart choice for a household that values particle-responsive Auto, local control and the exact model’s stated room claim, while accepting that a strict 4.8-ACH room size is not confirmed.

The main tradeoff

Current 75i offer, single indoor household room; exact 4.8-ACH area and manual-generation-specific details remain unknown. Follow the exact filter/SKU selection and treat only a supported complete arrangement as eligible.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Does this Alen BreatheSmart 75i have sensor-based automatic fan-speed control?

The exact Alen current collection page and model manual/support materials document automatic particle-oriented speed adjustment; the matcher does not infer a gas sensor.

Can this current offer be used for a strict 4.8-ACH room-size threshold?

No. The page gives an hourly/30-minute area claim but no 4.8-ACH basis; that claim must not be substituted for a repeated-air-change rating.

Explore this need in the finder →
Does the exact current model support app control and still have local buttons?

Alen lists Wi-Fi/app compatibility for the current BreatheSmart listing and the exact manual documents controls on the appliance; app control is not a smart-home integration claim.

Will a dedicated Night-mode requirement be satisfied?

No dedicated lower-airflow Night mode is established. On the 25i/35i, Sleep/light behavior turns the display dark while the purifier continues running.

The BreatheSmart 75i is Alen’s largest current BreatheSmart model in the four-product U.S. collection I reviewed. Its most useful distinction is not a generic “large room” label: the exact listing describes up to 2,800 square feet in an hour or 1,400 square feet in 30 minutes, while the page does not give those figures an AHAM-style 4.8-air-changes-per-hour basis. If a room-size question in your home depends on a known repeated-air-change rate, treat that rating as a manufacturer area claim rather than a substitute. For shoppers who want a larger purifier with a color-changing ring, automatic particle response, local controls and a replaceable filter, those are the more defensible reasons to compare it.

What the page says about output, and what it does not settle

Alen’s current product details list a CADR of 375 CFM and five airflow steps, with 100, 185, 255 and 300 CFM before Turbo at 375 CFM. A separate exact-model support page describes a 75i V2 and gives different CADR data. The current offer record does not map each finish-and-filter SKU to a manual generation, so I do not treat either figure as a verified single number for every offered unit. The distinction matters if you are comparing a strict CADR threshold: do not assume the product title or the first number in a current page is proof that a particular unit meets it.

The listing also gives a 27-by-18.5-by-11.5-inch body and 27-pound weight. This is a floor-standing appliance rather than a desktop solution, and the wide face needs clearance for its intake. The current page comparison table identifies Wi-Fi compatibility, and Alen’s model support documents an app-connected 75i V2. But the manual directory lists both a 75i and a 75i V2 manual, and the online offer does not identify which generation each SKU belongs to. App availability is a current product-page claim; the exact hardware-generation bridge remains open.

Auto, display and odor choices

The 75i has an air-quality color ring and manufacturer-described automatic speed adjustment. Its particle response can make sense when you want the purifier to change airflow without choosing a speed each time. It is not a numeric PM2.5 display on the cabinet, and the reviewed sensor documentation does not establish a gas or CO₂ sensor. The control panel and app offer different ways to interact with the appliance; if local controls matter, the exact manual shows unit controls. Do not confuse an automatic light behavior with a quieter, separately certified Night mode.

The offer page currently shows Essential Pure and Ultimate Odor filter configurations in six finishes. A 75i replacement-filter page also documents other media, but a filter listed as compatible is not the same as a filter included with every current SKU. Select the exact filter configuration before purchase. The larger odor cartridge may be relevant for stronger household smells, while a particle-focused Pure choice may be sufficient where odor removal is not the essential task. Neither choice should be described as a pet-specific allergy filter without an exact named offer.

Ownership routine and alternatives

The manufacturer gives a 12–15-month change interval for the Pure option and 7–10 months for Advanced Fresh or Ultimate Odor. Those are estimates tied to filter choice and use, not a guarantee that a cartridge will last that long in every home. The prefilter surface can be vacuumed, but the main media is replaced rather than washed. Alen’s Forever Guarantee has registration and active-filter-subscription conditions, so read the actual terms rather than treating “Forever” as unconditional coverage.

For a smaller footprint and an app-connected current listing, compare the 45i or 35i; for a compact desk or home-office setup, the 25i occupies less space. Those lower models have their own page-level room claims, and the 45i/35i claims conflict with a separate Alen area guide, so none should be substituted for a strict 4.8-ACH room need. The 75i is the reasonable Alen comparison when you value its larger published hourly area, five speeds, optional switchable ionizer and broad finish/filter selection. It is not the right shortcut if your essential limit is a verified 4.8-ACH area, a confirmed-generation CADR, a numerical on-unit PM2.5 readout, or a quiet mode that must reduce airflow automatically.
