A useful fit for

A household that needs one floor-standing device to purify and humidify a medium room up to Blueair’s listed 391 sq ft every 12.5 minutes, and will maintain its tank, wick, pump and air filter.

The main tradeoff

The larger 1.3-gallon reservoir and documented DermaSense routine distinguish it from the DH3i, but water handling and periodic cleaning add work. The page gives no single generic CADR or A-weighted sound cap, and the manual prints conflicting DH5i model-number strings.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Do you need humidification and purification in the same appliance?

Yes. DH5i has one documented combined operating plan with its air filter and evaporative wick installed.

Does Blueair list enough repeated-cleaning area for your room?

The current page lists 391 sq ft every 12.5 minutes. Use this figure rather than the separate one-hour headline.

Explore this need in the finder →
Do you specifically want DermaSense Skin Mode?

The DH5i manual describes eight time/temperature-adjusted humidity targets from 40% to 60%; this is a humidity routine, not a medical outcome.

Explore this need in the finder →
Is the Pro tank’s approximately 4.9-liter capacity adequate?

Blueair lists 1.3 U.S. gallons; the finder uses a rounded conversion of about 4.9 L.

Explore this need in the finder →
Must the wick be documented as machine washable?

The DH5i manual says the wick is machine washable on a gentle/low-temperature cycle; follow the stated cleaning restrictions.

Explore this need in the finder →
Do you want numeric PM2.5 feedback on the purifier itself?

The manual says the display shows PM2.5 and room humidity; particle channels are not gas-specific.

The Blueair 2-in-1 Pro Purify + Humidify is a floor-standing purifier and evaporative humidifier for someone who wants both functions running from one appliance. Blueair identifies it as DH5i on the manual cover, but its 48-page manual prints two different model numbers: 6541511000 in the specifications and 6531511000 in the introduction. The retail identity is clearer: the U.S. offer is SKU 113825, product 9854698586398, variant 50134685778206. Keep this discrepancy in mind when matching a manual or seller listing; the SKU is neither printed manual number.

A useful medium-room purification benchmark

The current U.S. product page says the purifier cleans 391 square feet every 12.5 minutes and separately lists 1,875 square feet in an hour. The first figure is the relevant repeated-cleaning comparison for a typical room; the second is a slower one-hour headline, not equivalent coverage. The 12.5-minute interval corresponds to 4.8 air changes per hour by calculation (60 divided by 12.5). The product page does not supply one universal CADR in the material reviewed, so a strict generic-CADR requirement remains unconfirmed. Open plans, tall ceilings or quieter speed choices can change practical fit.

The design combines air filtration and humidification in one 24.6-inch-high, 12.5-inch-wide/deep body weighing 18.5 pounds. The U.S. offer includes one Particle + Carbon filter, a wick and a water refresher. The main air cartridge is not washable. The product page lists 60 watts and 20–56 dB; the sound scale is not identified as dB(A), so do not treat 56 as a confirmed A-weighted maximum. This is more involved than a simple cylindrical purifier.

Why choose the Pro instead of the DH3i?

The Pro’s most distinctive convenience feature is DermaSense Skin Mode. Its manual says the algorithm changes its humidity target with room temperature and time of day and selects among eight target levels in the 40–60 percent range; the app needs local-time synchronization for the day/night behavior. That is a specific operating plan, not a medical result or a promise to resolve skin conditions. A manual humidity target and standard fan settings are also available, so the specialized mode is optional rather than required for humidification.

Blueair’s separate DH3i is a meaningful alternative, not just a color or bundle: it has a smaller 3-liter water tank, different filter arrangement, different body dimensions and a lower conservative room figure. The DH3i’s linked manual names model code 6331411000 and gives 301 square feet at 4.8 ACH, while its newer product page says 360 square feet every 12.5 minutes. That conflict is preserved in the DH3i review; the lower manual figure is used for a strict fit choice. Pick the Pro when the larger tank, 391-square-foot page benchmark, or documented DermaSense routine matters. Compare the DH3i when a smaller tank/body or lower cost is more important, but verify exact room basis and maintenance requirements before deciding.

Water handling is the ownership tradeoff

The Pro has a 1.3-gallon reservoir, can be filled from the top or by removing the tank, and uses a machine-washable wick. Blueair recommends cleaning the wick every one to two weeks and replacing it around 12 months; the main air filter is estimated for up to 12 months, with an indicator used for both. A water refresher is a separate replaceable part, with a 3–6-month recommendation. The manual also describes a washable tank and periodic pump descaling with citric acid. These are not optional footnotes: a combined purifier/humidifier avoids a second appliance but adds water filling, wet-part cleaning, drying and consumables.

Only clean water goes in the tank. InvisibleMist is a product name, not a substitute for regular cleaning. The pump contains an internal UV-C emitter; the manual warns not to view it directly and says users must not replace the lamp. Unplug before cleaning and keep the appliance on the floor with four inches of air clearance. If that care routine will not fit, a standalone purifier may be more practical.

Controls and room feedback change by mode

The Pro supports physical controls and the Blueair app over 2.4-GHz Wi-Fi, with Bluetooth used for initial pairing. In ordinary purifier operation its display can show PM2.5 and humidity, while the particle sensor reports PM1, PM2.5 and PM10 through a five-color indicator. Do not infer a gas or VOC sensor from the particle display. The unit has Auto, Night and manual fan settings. DermaSense’s automatic target depends on the app’s local time; someone avoiding account or network setup can still use physical controls and choose manual humidity settings, but loses some connected scheduling and remote features.

Before shortlisting, decide whether you need the DH5i’s particular skin-mode program, a numeric PM2.5 display, a large water tank, or simply both core functions. If humidity is essential, the questionnaire treats humidification and purifier room capacity as requirements of one operating arrangement: a purifier-only plan cannot satisfy that need. If a precise CADR, A-weighted noise maximum, exact manual model-number crosswalk, or current stock status is essential, the reviewed sources do not settle all of those questions. Do not substitute an unknown for a verified limit.

Who this model suits—and who should skip it

Consider the 2-in-1 Pro when one floor-standing device needs to purify a medium room and raise humidity, you value a larger reservoir and you will maintain the wick, tank and pump. Its strongest differentiation from the DH3i is the published 391-square-foot repeated-cleaning figure and the source-documented DermaSense feature, not proof of a general health benefit. Skip it if you want a small, low-maintenance bedroom purifier, need a confirmed 56-dB(A) ceiling, need a single comparable CADR, cannot accommodate its height and weight, or will not keep up with the water-care schedule. A separate Blueair purifier or the distinct DH3i may be a better match when the combo’s added routine or price is not justified by your humidity needs.
