Blueair Mini Restful Sunrise Clock Air Purifier review

A personal-room purifier integrated with a sunrise alarm clock. Coastal Beige and Midnight are finish-specific single-unit offers; separate bundle rows add two purifier/clock units and do not increase either unit’s room rating.

A useful fit for

A bedside or other compact room of no more than Blueair’s stated 140-square-foot rating at 4.8 ACH, for someone who wants one small unit to combine ordinary room purification with a programmable sunrise and sound alarm. The alarm experience is the unusual differentiator: the app is required to create or personalize the clock, even though the purifier itself has local buttons.

The main tradeoff

It occupies just 6.7 by 6.7 inches at the base and stands 11.1 inches high, but a bedside placement still needs the manual’s four inches of free space around it. Blueair publishes 93/80/90 CFM pollen/dust/smoke CADR and a 140-square-foot 4.8-ACH rating; the 607-square-foot one-hour headline is slower cleaning, not equivalent repeated cleaning. It uses one exact replacement cartridge, and the app is necessary for alarm setup. The page’s 21–48 dB technical table conflicts with its separate 18-dB-on-low claim; sound weighting is unspecified. Choose another model if an app-free alarm, verified particle display, confirmed gas/TVOC sensor, or strict sound ceiling is essential.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Is the room at or below the Mini Restful’s stated 140-square-foot 4.8-ACH rating?

Blueair lists 140 square feet at 4.8 ACH; its separate 607-square-foot one-hour headline is not the same repeated-cleaning benchmark.

Do you want a sunrise clock as part of the purifier, and are you willing to use the app to set it up?

The exact SC9i manual says app connection is required for Sunrise Clock or Sound Clock setup and the support page says alarms are created/deleted in the app. Purifier fan, power and light controls remain on the device.

Is a local numeric particle reading or air-quality Auto mode essential?

The product page/manual document a time display, filter-change indicator and three manual fan speeds, not a numeric particle reading or air-quality Auto mode.

Will you keep enough clearance and use the Mini Restful-specific replacement filter?

Its small footprint does not eliminate the manual’s four-inch clearance recommendation. The main filter is not washable, and the exact replacement is a Mini Restful cartridge.

Can the published sound range verify a strict dB(A) bedroom limit?

No. The technical table says 21–48 dB while other product copy says 18 dB on low; weighting is not stated, so strict acoustic thresholds remain unknown.

The Blueair Mini Restful is not just a small purifier with a clock-shaped display. Its defining combination is a bedroom air cleaner and a sunrise alarm: the Coastal Beige and Midnight listings are finish-specific single-unit offers, while two separate collection rows are bundles with two complete purifier/clock units. The packages add a second unit, not a larger per-unit rating.

Keep the room rating separate from the one-hour headline

Blueair lists 140 square feet at 4.8 air changes per hour (ACH), with that area cleaned in 12.5 minutes. The product page also says “up to 607 square feet in one hour.” That wider number describes a slower cleaning interval, not the same repeated-air-change basis. For a bedroom where ongoing particle removal matters, compare with the 140-square-foot 4.8-ACH figure rather than treating 607 as a like-for-like fit.

The published CADR values are pollutant-specific: 93 CFM pollen, 80 dust and 90 smoke. They are not one universal CADR number. The exact product material does not identify a particle sensor, a numeric air-quality display or sensor-driven Auto mode. Its screen shows time and its red indicator concerns filter replacement. If live particle feedback or automatic response is essential, a different purifier is a better match.

A purifier with a clock that depends on the app

The manual identifies model SC9i and lists three model numbers, but does not map them to the separate finish SKUs. On the machine, the owner can start or place it in standby, select fan speed, control the integrated light and stop an alarm. The manual describes speeds 1, 2 and 3, while the product page’s technical table lists 1 through 4; the exact speed count remains unresolved rather than silently choosing one source.

The sunrise and sound-clock features have a more important setup condition: Blueair says the app is required to create and personalize alarms, choose sounds and set light routines. Initial setup uses Bluetooth and a 2.4-GHz Wi-Fi network. After setup, the alarm can be stopped with the physical button, but the support FAQ says alarms cannot be created or deleted on the device. There is no snooze; an alarm stops after five minutes, and the manufacturer suggests making multiple app alarms to imitate snooze intervals. The light gradually brightens over 15–30 minutes. USB-C is for charging an external device; it does not power the purifier, which uses its own AC input.

That makes Mini Restful a specialized choice for someone who wants the purifier and waking routine consolidated on a nightstand, not a phone-free sunrise clock. If the app setup is unwelcome, the air-cleaning fan can still be operated locally, but the clock’s defining configurable alarms cannot be fully set up without it.

Compact dimensions still need breathing room

The body measures 11.1 inches high and 6.7 inches wide and deep, with a listed weight of 2.4 pounds. It has a small footprint, but the manual asks for at least four inches between the purifier and other objects so air can circulate. Allow for that clearance around a crowded bedside table and keep the inlet and outlet unobstructed. The 360-degree intake sits behind the fabric cover and the outlet is on top, so a tightly enclosed cubby defeats the placement guidance.

The technical table gives power as 13.5–41 W. Its sound information needs care: the table lists 21–48 dB, while other manufacturer copy claims 18 dB on low. The page does not give an A-weighting basis or explain the difference. A person with a strict bedroom sound ceiling should not treat either figure as verified dB(A), and the QuietMark badge is not a substitute for a stated measurement method.

Filter care and bundle math

Each single-unit offer includes one particle-and-carbon main filter and a washable fabric pre-filter; the exact compatible replacement is sold as the Mini Restful filter, not as a general Blueair cylinder. The manual recommends changing the main cartridge after 9–12 months and says the replacement indicator illuminates. Product/support copy instead says up to nine months and advertises a nine-month app alert. Follow the indicator and condition guidance rather than assuming the longest interval is guaranteed. Unplug before service, replace rather than wash the main filter, and vacuum or wash the fabric pre-filter only as its care label allows; hang it to dry before reinstalling. The indicator can be reset by holding fan speed for 15 seconds or through the app.

The two bundle rows are package offers: the generic page lists two purifier/clock units and two filters and pre-filters; Coastal Beige has its own offer and image. They may suit two bedrooms, but each unit retains the same 140-square-foot 4.8-ACH rating. If you need one larger-room purifier, compare room-rated models such as Blueair’s 411i Max or 211i Max instead of buying two small units on the assumption that their area ratings combine across doorways.

Who should consider it—and who should pass

Choose the Mini Restful when a compact personal-room cleaner, sunrise light, sound alarm, USB-C device charging and local fan buttons solve one bedside routine, and when you accept app-dependent clock setup and periodic model-specific filter replacement. Coastal Beige and Midnight are appearance choices, not documented performance tiers.

Pass if your room exceeds the 140-square-foot repeated-cleaning rating, you require a documented particle display or Auto mode, want an app-free programmable alarm, need a confirmed TVOC or ionizer function, or have a strict dB(A) limit. A purifier-only compact unit avoids paying for the clock, while a larger model is more appropriate for a larger bedroom. The current evidence supports a distinctive sleep-oriented combination, but not a claim that the alarm improves sleep or that the air-cleaning performance exceeds the published room and CADR figures.
