Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Must a purifier also circulate room air as a fan?
Yes. Coway calls Airmega Aim a 2-in-1 purifier and fan; it offers horizontal oscillation and manual vertical aim.
Explore this need in the finder →What room size should I trust at a repeated cleaning rate?
Coway’s table says246 ft² at2 ACH; we use a conservative102 ft² at4.8 ACH. The product sheet claims a larger area, but exact-page sources conflict.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I see numeric PM2.5 on the unit?
The manual documents only green/yellow/red air-quality status, not numeric PM2.5.
Explore this need in the finder →Does Auto respond to an air-quality sensor?
Yes. After roughly60 seconds of calibration, the unit adjusts among airflow levels1–3 according to sensed air quality.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the manufacturer’s body dimensions be used for a tight shelf limit?
No. Coway page/manual body measurements conflict with its product sheet; use another model if exact opening fit is essential.
Explore this need in the finder →The Coway Airmega Aim is unusual among compact room purifiers because it is also meant to move air like a fan: the head oscillates horizontally and can be tilted to several vertical angles. It may suit a small bedroom, desk-side area or reading corner when you want directional airflow as well as filtered air and can work within a modest, conservatively interpreted room rating. Coway's U.S. page and its own sheet conflict on room coverage, dimensions and weight, so this review keeps those differences visible rather than combining the most favorable numbers.

Use the conservative room figure, not the largest headline
Coway's current product-page table lists 492 square feet at one air change per hour and 246 square feet at two. Nearby marketing copy says 248 square feet in 30 minutes and 492 in 60 minutes but does not label those statements with an air-change rate. Its linked two-page product sheet gives another basis: 248 square feet at 4.8 ACH and 492 at two. Those are meaningful disagreements between primary sources, not interchangeable numbers. For a hard room-size comparison, use the lower product-table figure of 246 square feet at two ACH and a conservative calculated floor of 102 square feet at 4.8 ACH. The calculation simply scales the table's two-change rate down to 4.8 changes per hour; it is not a Coway-published 4.8-ACH rating. The larger figure on the sheet is recorded, but not used to make the Aim pass a tighter room requirement.
That conservative reading makes this a personal or very small-room candidate rather than a 140-square-foot compact-room match at the faster comparison rate. Its slower-rate figure may still be useful if that is the rate you actually want, but a 1-ACH area is not a substitute for frequent air turnover. Room height, doorways and obstructions also matter.
Choose it for the fan-and-purifier combination
The Airmega Aim uses one combined cartridge described as a pre-filter, particulate/True HEPA and deodorization stages. The manual calls the appliance an air purifier and fan. Three manual airflow levels and sensor-driven Auto are available from the touch panel or infrared remote. In Auto, the air-quality sensor first takes about a minute to calibrate, then adjusts among fan levels one through three. The manual identifies a green, yellow and red status light, not a numeric PM2.5 screen or an identified gas/TVOC channel. That is useful as a broad visual cue, but it cannot tell you a measured particle concentration or certify the room's air.
The fan function changes how you can aim the clean-air stream: Coway documents 80-degree automatic horizontal oscillation and five manually selected vertical positions. This is the practical reason to consider it over a conventional small Coway purifier. Do not read the maker's stated circulation reach as an independently measured cooling or room-cleaning result, and do not block the side openings. If you need an app, voice assistant or remote status from another room, the exact Aim page and manual do not document an app setup. Touch and infrared controls are confirmed; whether a phone app is supported or explicitly excluded remains unknown, so it should fail either essential app or app-free requirement.
Check the limits before planning a tight fit
The product page and manual give a compact set of body measurements, while the linked official sheet prints a much wider and flatter set. The listed weights also differ slightly. Since Coway's own materials do not agree, these numbers are not reliable enough for a strict shelf, alcove or weight limit; use another model if an exact opening is essential. The page and sheet agree on 33 watts and a 38–56 dB(A) range, but Coway does not map the noise endpoints to specific speeds. Treat 56 dB(A) as the top published claim, not a measured quiet-mode promise. The pollutant-specific CADR figures also vary slightly between page and sheet and are not accompanied by a generic CFM unit, so they cannot answer a hard minimum-CFM question.
The supplied filter is installed at delivery, but the manual says to remove its plastic wrapper before first use. Coway lists an eight-month life for the standard Airmega Aim replacement. That is a manufacturer interval, not a guarantee independent of dust load and operating time; watch the indicator and the actual filter condition. The standard cartridge is not a named Pet Allergy or specialty smoke filter. Its pre-filter and media should be kept dry: Coway's support instructions say to vacuum or wipe it rather than wash it, and the manual describes replacing the cartridge rather than rinsing it.
Who should shortlist it—and who should move on
Shortlist the Aim if combining filtered air with adjustable fan direction matters, the conservative 102-square-foot 4.8-ACH floor is enough, and touch/remote controls plus color feedback suit your routine. It also has a documented control lock and a timer/scheduled-start function. Leave room size open only if you do not have a hard minimum. If the room must clear 140 square feet at 4.8 ACH, if a numeric local PM2.5 reading or generic-CFM minimum is essential, or if you need app status, exact dimensions, a verified weight or a specialty filter, the records do not support the Aim as a match. Consider the Airmega 50 or 100 reviews for compact purifier-only options with their own distinct room rates; compare them by the rate you need, not the model number. If you simply need a fan without a purifier, the Airmega Pedestal Fan P50 is a different product category and should not be treated as a purifier alternative.

| Manufacturer filter-check/replacement guidance | Coway says 8 months/up to8 months for the standard cartridge; no run-hours basis found. Use filter indicator. Official replacement page: vacuum or wipe periodically, do not use water; manual says not to wash/reuse. No specialty filter profile. |
| Important specification note | The current product page table, feature copy, linked manual and official sheet disagree on room rates and dimensions/mass. Matching uses only conservative page-table 246 ft² at2 ACH plus 102 ft² calculated at4.8; dimensions/weight and generic CADR units remain unknown. |
| Placement and care | Remove the pre-installed filter wrapper before operation. Keep both sides unblocked. Auto sensor needs about60 seconds to calibrate. Keep the standard cartridge dry and follow the indicator / eight-month maker claim; do not wash it. |
| Purifier also has a documented circulation-fan function | Yes |
