Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Will its repeated-cleaning claim cover a small room without relying on the slower hourly headline?
Guardian claims 348 sq ft in 12.5 minutes (about 4.8 cycles per hour). That clears the 219-sq-ft small threshold but not the 358-sq-ft medium threshold. The separate 1,680-plus square-foot hourly headline is slower.
Explore this need in the finder →Do you want physical-only controls and no phone app?
The AC3200 has capacitive touch controls and ten fan speeds, while its exact product listing says there is no smart technology or app. Choose the AC3250 if Aria app control is essential.
Explore this need in the finder →Is a color ring and AQI display acceptable instead of a PM2.5 concentration?
The manual says the sensor detects PM2.5 and Auto responds to particle conditions, but the screen reports numeric AQI and the ring uses color; it does not show a numeric PM2.5 concentration.

The GermGuardian AC3200 AirSafe+ is a tall, 20-inch purifier for someone who wants more control than a three-speed basic tower but does not want a phone app. Its product page claims a 348-square-foot room cleaned in 12.5 minutes, the same roughly 4.8-air-changes-per-hour basis used by this site's faster room-size comparisons. That is useful for a closed bedroom or living room near that size, not a promise for an open floor plan or high ceiling. Guardian separately advertises 1,680-plus square feet per hour; that slower time-based headline is not a substitute for the repeated-cleaning figure.
Room fit: use the faster figure, not the broadest headline
The AC3200's own listing gives a 348-square-foot, 12.5-minute claim and pollutant CADR figures of 225 CFM for smoke, 230 for dust and 250 for pollen. The manual does not publish a separate room-size test, so the area remains a manufacturer claim rather than an independent measurement here. It falls just below the finder's 358-square-foot medium threshold; it does meet the 219-square-foot small threshold. If your room is larger, choose the higher verified repeated-cleaning area first and then consider doors, ceiling height, furniture and the speed you will actually run.
The cabinet is 10.25 inches wide and deep, 20.51 inches tall and 12 pounds. The manual calls for a level, flat surface, unobstructed intake and at least one foot from a wall or furniture. That clearance is larger than the cabinet footprint, so a narrow cubby is not a real fit even when the body itself measures only 10.25 inches across.
Auto and Sleep without app setup
IntelliSense reads airborne particles and changes the fan speed in Auto mode. The appliance presents an AQI number and a green, yellow or red ring; the manual says the sensor responds to PM2.5, but the screen reports the EPA's Air Quality Index rather than a numeric PM2.5 concentration. If you specifically want a local PM2.5 number, this is not the right display. Ten physical fan speeds, a touch panel and a documented Sleep mode let you operate it without pairing a phone. Sleep dims the panel after a short interval and reduces the fan to its lowest setting; Guardian's product listing also calls this model a night-mode unit. Neither that low setting nor the page's 22 dBA low-speed figure establishes a maximum noise level at the other speeds.
The AC3200 has no smart-app control. That is a genuine distinction from the closely sized AC3250, not evidence that the AC3200 lacks local buttons. Both use particle-led Auto, a display and ten speeds; the AC3250 adds Aria for Home Wi-Fi operation. If you want remote timers or phone AQI, compare that model. If you prefer not to configure a connected appliance, the AC3200 keeps the controls at the purifier.
Budget for three separate replacement intervals
The combination HEPA filter is not washable and the manual gives an approximate six-month replacement interval that shortens in dustier conditions. The optional wraparound carbon pre-filter can be changed about every three months; it is not the same purchase as the main Filter O cartridge. The UV-C lamp is switchable and its reminder points to an LB1000 replacement roughly every ten months. These routine consumables matter more than the one-time room claim: verify the exact filter code before ordering and avoid assuming a generic replacement is certified for the model.
The listing names compatible Filter O options FLT5100, FLT5100PT (Pet), FLT5100SM (Smoke) and FLT5100VO (VOCs/Toxins), plus fabric pre-filter FAB3200G, carbon sleeve FLT51CB4 and LB1000 lamp. The standard purifier offer is one AC3200 with the HEPA/carbon filter, fabric pre-filter and UV-C bulb. A Pet-labeled replacement is available, but that is not the included filter. The manual says the included fabric pre-filter may be machine-washed cold and air-dried; it also cautions against washing the HEPA cartridge.
Who should shortlist it—and when to choose another
Shortlist the AC3200 when a roughly 348-square-foot manufacturer claim is enough, physical controls and particle Auto matter, and app features do not. It is not a purifier/fan combo, heater or humidifier; its airflow does not replace room cooling. Keep the UV-C lamp behind its shield, switch it off if you do not want that stage, and follow the manual's servicing and disposal directions for the mercury-containing bulb. The manufacturer's organism-test claims are not a medical guarantee and do not replace ordinary infection-control practices.
Choose AC3250 instead if app control is essential: it adds Wi-Fi and the Aria app but its page conflicts with AC3200 on the room-area claim, and it does not resolve that difference through the shared 225-CFM smoke CADR. Compare its own review before selecting a threshold. A requirement for a strict maximum sound rating, numeric PM2.5 at the unit or more than 348 square feet at the faster comparison rate points to another model. The AC3200's strength is its combination of strong local controls, Auto sensing and a straightforward ownership routine—not an unsupported claim that it is silent or whole-home sized.
