Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Will the LV-H128 meet a 47-square-foot repeated-cleaning requirement?
Levoit lists 47 ft² at 4.8 ACH; its separate 226-ft² figure is only at one ACH. Open rooms and higher ceilings can change the practical fit.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I put a few drops of essential oil somewhere other than the filter?
Yes. The manual describes a separate top aroma pad and allows 2–3 drops there, but not on the filters or fan; essential oils are not included.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the LV-H128 meet a 30-CFM minimum?
Levoit publishes 30 CFM. It clears a 30-CFM minimum but not a higher threshold, and this is a manufacturer figure rather than our lab measurement.
Explore this need in the finder →Will the 6.7-inch body fit a seven-inch opening?
The listed body width is 6.7 inches, but the manual still asks for 15 inches of clearance on every side. A seven-inch shelf cubby would not provide that operating space.
Explore this need in the finder →The Levoit LV-H128 is a tabletop purifier for a genuinely small, enclosed zone—not a compact stand-in for a full-room machine. Levoit lists 47 square feet at 4.8 air changes per hour and 30 CFM CADR. The LV-H128’s differentiators are its three-button-free, one-button speed cycle, documented Sleep speed, aroma pad and a manual that says two combination filters come pre-installed.
Size it by the repeated-cleaning figure
At 47 square feet at 4.8 ACH, this model can make sense for a desk-side work nook, a small enclosed bedside area or another single zone that stays close to that footprint. Its separate 226-square-foot figure is at one air change per hour. That is a different and slower turnover rate, not evidence that the purifier can deliver the same repeated-cleaning pace throughout a 226-square-foot bedroom. Levoit’s own troubleshooting advice says larger rooms take longer and may not be as effectively purified.
The replacement-filter listing also says “ideal” for a 161-square-foot room but gives no air-change basis. I would not use that accessory-page line as a substitute for the purifier page’s 47-square-foot 4.8-ACH rating. Open doorways, high ceilings and adjoining areas can stretch this small unit beyond the room its repeated-cleaning figure describes.
A simple physical routine, with Sleep as one of the speeds
The manual documents one control button that turns the purifier on in Sleep and cycles through Low, High and off. It calls High the quickest-cleaning but loudest setting and suggests a 15–20-minute High run for an air-quality issue such as smoke before lowering the speed. Sleep is a low fan speed, not a verified timer or automatic sensor program. The display lights turn off after five seconds while the purifier keeps running. That can make the control ring less intrusive, but it is not an adjustable night-light feature.
There is no documented particle sensor, numeric PM2.5 display, automatic mode or on-unit air-quality indicator. The lit ring is a status control: the manual describes white while running and red as a prompt to check the filters. Levoit’s product page includes general VeSync material, but the model-specific manual does not explain app pairing or connected control. If an app is essential, treat the LV-H128’s capability as unconfirmed rather than counting it as an app model.
The aroma pad is separate from the filtration path
The top aroma box holds a removable pad. Levoit’s instructions say to add just two or three drops of essential oil to the pad; oil is not included. Do not put oil on either filter or the fan: the manual warns that it can damage the filters and cause an unpleasant smell. Clean the pad before changing blends. The activated-carbon layer is described as adsorbing smoke, odors and fumes, but that material does not identify contaminants.
Two 3-stage filters are listed as pre-installed in the single-unit package. Each uses a pre-filter, a main particle filter and activated carbon. The manufacturer claims at least 99.97% capture of 0.3-micron particles; that is a manufacturer filtration statement, not an independent room-performance test. The LV-H128-specific replacement page says its filter is for LV-H128-RF and lists UPC 810043372473. Because that page describes a replacement item in the singular while the manual lists two filters in the purifier, check the package quantity before ordering rather than assuming a single retail package covers a pair.
Leave more breathing room than the body suggests
The body is a compact 6.7 by 6.7 inches and 10.4 inches high, with a published weight of 3.3 pounds. Its upward outlet and side inlets need room to breathe: the manual asks for 15 inches of clearance on all sides and a stable, level surface. That makes a narrow cubby or a spot pushed against a wall a poor match even when the plastic body itself fits. The operating range is 14–104°F with humidity at or below 85% RH; Levoit says it is for indoor household use, not outdoors or commercial service.
Filter care and the power conflict
Plan to brush or vacuum the outer pre-filters every two to four weeks. The manual says not to wash any filter portion and recommends replacing the filter set about every six to eight months, sooner with heavy pollution. A red indicator is only a usage-based reminder to inspect the filters; it does not measure remaining filter capacity. After replacement, reset the reminder with the unit plugged in and fan off.
One specification deserves caution if you are comparing energy limits: the current product page lists 6 watts, while the linked manual lists 10 watts. The product page also lists 24–36 dB; the manual provides no noise table, and neither number is an independent sound measurement.
Who should choose the LV-H128?
Choose it when its 47-square-foot repeated-cleaning rating fits the enclosed zone, you want a direct one-button routine with a Sleep speed, and the separate aroma pad is a feature you will actually use. The white offer was available in Levoit’s current product record when checked; the gray finish was listed but unavailable. That record identifies White as SKU HEAPAPLVNUS0065A and Gray as HEAPAPLVNUS0080, with no GTINs. The manual names LV-H128-RXA and LV-H128-RXB, but does not map those suffixes to the current color SKUs, so confirm the code on a particular unit rather than inferring a finish-to-code match.
Compare the narrower Core Mini-P if you want a 6.5-inch body, slightly higher published personal-space rating and its explicit direct-control/no-app documentation. Step up to a larger model if the room needs more than 47 square feet at 4.8 ACH; the LV-H128’s 226-square-foot one-change figure is not the answer to that requirement. This assessment interprets Levoit’s product page, offer record and instructions; it is not an independent test or a claim of ownership.

| Important specification note | The product page lists 6 W, while the linked manual lists 10 W; that conflict prevents a firm maximum-watt match. The product page lists 24–36 dB, but the manual has no noise table. |
| Placement and care | Place on a stable, level surface with 15 inches of clearance on every side. Remove the filters’ plastic wrap before first use, keep the side inlets and top outlet clear, and put only 2–3 drops of optional essential oil on the separate aroma pad. |
