A useful fit for

Best for a smaller room where the Basic Breather plan’s 318 ft² at 5 ACH is sufficient and the smaller 9.8-inch-square body fits the placement. It keeps the Mila app/Automagic and local control approach in a smaller format.

The main tradeoff

The claim is a Basic Breather configuration, not proof for every Mini filter. The smaller unit has less documented high-rate area than Air 3 Basic Breather; the exact Auto sensor targets are not resolved, and 4.8-ACH/CADR-in-CFM values remain unknown. A standalone body does not include its first filter.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Does the Air Mini have a five-ACH room rating?

The Mila support FAQ gives 318 ft² at 5 ACH for the Basic Breather setup. Other Mini filter plans are not assigned that area in this evidence record.

Can it work with the app and local controls?

Yes. The Mini uses Mila app functions plus on-unit controls. Pairing uses 2.4-GHz Wi-Fi; some app functions depend on the connection.

Does its six-sensor marketing claim prove particle-driven Auto?

No. The Mini manual and marketing describe sensors and alerts, but the exact automatic target sensor list was not established. CO/CO2 alerts are not a replacement for safety alarms.

Does a Critter Cuddler Mini filter meet the named Pet Allergy Filter condition?

No. The exact named questionnaire filter is a different product and is not established as part of the Mini package.

Can the Mini body meet a 9.7-inch width limit?

No. Mila lists the body at 9.8 inches wide, before allowing the separate intake clearance.

The Mila Air Mini is a compact, connected purifier for a bedroom, home office or another room where a smaller cabinet matters. Mila's support FAQ gives three distinct room claims: 714 square feet at 2 ACH, 318 square feet at 5 ACH, and 149 square feet at 10 ACH. The slower 2-ACH figure is a broad air-refresh claim; the 5-ACH number is more useful for a faster comparison. Neither is a 4.8-ACH claim, so this review does not convert it to fit the site's standard 4.8-ACH room choices.

Use the rate that matches your room goal

Mila also lists a 357 m³/h CADR for the Mini. The support material does not make clear whether every selectable filter configuration produces that same airflow. The replacement line includes Basic Breather, Big Sneeze, Critter Cuddler and Overreactor options, each with its own media emphasis. Basic Breather is the simple daily-use filter; Big Sneeze is the allergy-focused H13 option; Critter Cuddler adds a washable Mila Sock and carbon marketed for pet-related ammonia; Overreactor is the heavier-duty carbon/H14 choice. The Mini versions are separate compatible filters from the Air/Air 3 size. Do not order an Air/Air3 filter simply because the family names sound similar.

The room figure also depends on what is in the box. The current Mila Air Mini product page offers a filtered unit, while the standalone page explicitly says no filter is preinstalled and filters must be purchased separately. That standalone body is not ready to use as a purifier until a compatible filter is fitted. The store page captures show five finish choices on one filtered offer and six on the standalone listing; color is not a performance difference, and that mismatch is not a reason to guess which filter ships. Confirm the selected filter and package on the exact checkout page.

Local controls and app features are not the same thing

The current Air Mini user manual describes an on-unit display and touch controls, including Manual and Automagic modes. Manual mode lets you set fan speed and target air quality. Automagic can adjust the fan based on settings and indoor readings; the manual notes that the default mode after startup is Automagic, and some use of outdoor-air information requires an internet connection and location sharing. Mila's support page says the purifier can still run without Wi-Fi, while app pairing uses a 2.4-GHz network. The app adds schedules and remote views, but it is not required for basic fan operation.

The Mini's dedicated Sleep, Quiet and White Noise options may be helpful when the unit is near a bed, and a room-presence feature can reduce display/fan activity when someone is nearby. The manual also describes air-quality alerts, including carbon-monoxide and carbon-dioxide alerts. Those manufacturer-described functions are not a replacement for code-compliant smoke or carbon-monoxide alarms, and they do not establish a health outcome. If you need an exact TVOC or gas sensor specifically to drive automatic fan changes, the available sources do not resolve that matching condition.

Care, clearance and fit

The listed dimensions are 9.8 by 9.8 by 13.2 inches. Mila recommends about 9.8 inches of breathing room around the Mini; it draws from its sides and releases filtered air from the top. Keep that clearance in mind before setting it on a crowded nightstand or wedging it between furniture. The current Mini manual says to replace the filter roughly every six months. Its washable Mila Sock is a separate prefilter that can be hand-washed and dried completely; the HEPA/carbon filter itself is not washable. Budget for compatible Mini-size filters rather than relying on a generic cylinder or the larger Air/Air3 parts.

Choose the Mini when its directly stated 318-square-foot, 5-ACH claim, small footprint and app-enabled routines suit the room. The larger Mila Air 3 is the better comparison if you need the published 400-square-foot 5-ACH Basic Breather configuration or more room headroom. The older Mila Air is a different generation and appears in the current store as a purifier-only standalone offer that may be rebuilt. If your essential requirement is a verified 4.8-ACH room area, numeric CFM CADR, a specifically named Pet Allergy Filter with ARC Formula, or odor-sensor automatic response, do not treat the Mini's general filter or sensor marketing as proof; use the exact option only when the source establishes it.
