Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Does the original Air have a documented five-ACH room area?
The checked standalone listing and original Air manual do not give a current five-ACH room area. The newer Air 3 and Mini rates are not transferred to this earlier body.
Explore this need in the finder →Can it use the app while retaining physical controls?
The product-specific original Air manual documents on-device manual controls and app pairing via 2.4-GHz Wi-Fi. It is not a manual-only purifier.
Explore this need in the finder →Does its sleep routine qualify as app-connected operation?
The original Air manual documents Sleep and related settings along with app pairing. The current standalone offer may be rebuilt, and its exact room-rate capacity remains unknown.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the original Air have the named Pet Allergy Filter with ARC Formula?
No. The supported Mila Air-size filter names are different; they should not be treated as the specifically named filter required here.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the earlier model meet an essential 4.8-ACH threshold?
No exact 4.8-ACH room area is documented for this current standalone offer. Unknown capacity cannot satisfy a strict rate threshold.

The original Mila Air is an earlier model in the brand's app-connected purifier family, not the newer Mila Air 3 and not the smaller Air Mini. Its most important current-offer caveat is easy to miss: Mila's U.S. standalone listing says a filter is not preinstalled, the unit may be rebuilt, and the listed warranty is six months. Treat it as a specific purifier-only offer rather than a boxed new unit with a filter. The listed offer and source-backed manual make it possible to assess its controls and care, but the exact current sources reviewed here do not establish a current ACH room rating or CFM CADR for this original version.
Don't buy it on a room-size headline that is not there
The manufacturer's support page lists the original Air body at 11.8 by 11.8 by 15.5 inches and recommends roughly 11.8 inches of clearance around it. Its current page does not supply a comparable 4.8-ACH room area, a direct 5-ACH area or a verified CADR value for the standalone unit. The current Air 3 page provides those larger-room claims for a newer filter/motor configuration, but they should not be copied onto the original Air. If a measured room capacity is an essential purchase condition, this is not the safe Mila choice on the evidence available; compare the Air 3 or another model with a rate-specific exact source.
The original Air supports Mila's two core control paths. Its 19-page user manual describes touch controls for Manual mode, automatic adjustments in Automagic mode, a real-time air-quality display, and custom settings such as Quiet, Housekeeping, Sleep/Light Sleeper, White Noise and Turndown. The display and manual controls remain useful even when the phone is not beside the appliance. Mila's manual says pairing uses a 2.4-GHz Wi-Fi network; the support FAQ says the purifier can run offline, but remote app control, data history and some personalized functions rely on network access.
Plan for the filter and the actual box contents
The original Air uses Mila Air/Air3-size filters. Mila's support FAQ says Air 3 remains compatible with the full Air filter range, and the manufacturer lists replacements such as Basic Breather, Big Sneeze, Critter Cuddler, Home Wrecker, Mama-to-Be, Overreactor and Rookie Parent for the Air/Air3 size. These are different media choices, not modes built into the bare machine. Critter Cuddler adds a washable Mila Sock and carbon described for ammonia; it is not the named Pet Allergy Filter with ARC Formula used by a different product line. The standalone Air offer reviewed here includes no filter, so the purifier needs a compatible filter purchased separately before startup.
The original manual's maintenance guidance is more specific than the current standalone product listing: it gives a six-to-nine-month filter interval depending on use, describes removing the front filter door, and says the Mila Sock can be washed and dried before refitting. The main filter itself should be replaced, not washed. The manual recommends 11.8 inches of clearance and notes the unit starts in Automagic after power-on; after opening the filter door, allow sensor calibration to finish. The standalone listing's six-month warranty and possible rebuilt status are separate purchase considerations, not evidence of poor reliability or an exact previous owner history.
Who should consider this version?
The original Air is most defensible for a buyer deliberately seeking the earlier Mila controls and filter ecosystem, who is comfortable buying a filter separately and can verify the condition, exact included parts and warranty for the actual unit. Its Sleep and manual-control options may fit a routine built around app schedules, and its custom filter range gives more than one media emphasis. But the current offer's possible rebuild status and missing room-rate/CADR documentation mean it should not be selected for a strict capacity threshold, a known noise cap or a confirmed sensor target. Unknown capacity is not a pass.
If you want Mila's current published room claims, step up to Air 3 and choose the filter that supports the rate you need. If a smaller form factor and a specific 318-square-foot claim at 5 ACH suit your room, compare Air Mini. Across all three, keep the answer to “does this fit my room?” tied to the exact model, filter and stated air-change rate, not the brand name alone.
