Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Does the 360-sq-ft repeated-cleaning room fit the library's medium tier but not its large tier?
The page/manual conservative 4.8-ACH figure is 360 sq ft: at least 358, below the 606-sq-ft large threshold.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the exact 360-sq-ft 4.8-ACH figure meet the room minimum exactly?
The conservative AHAM/manual basis is 360 sq ft; a one-square-foot higher requirement is not established.
Explore this need in the finder →Can you use it with physical controls only, without any app function?
The exact page lists no smart features and the manual documents local physical buttons; its app status is no-app.
Explore this need in the finder →If Auto is required, must it respond to odor/gas rather than particles?
The manual identifies the Smart Sensor as detecting odorous gas. A particle-specific Auto target is not documented.
Explore this need in the finder →Is the three-color quality cue enough, or do you need a numeric PM2.5 value on the unit?
The manual documents red/amber/blue quality LEDs and no numeric on-unit PM2.5 display.
Explore this need in the finder →Would Sleep mode help if the strict maximum noise cap is still unknown?
A dedicated Sleep mode is documented. Winix lists only a 25-dB minimum, not a maximum across settings.
Explore this need in the finder →Do you need Turbo without making a strict CFM promise?
The manual lists Turbo. The product page CADR values have no stated unit in its technical table, so a generic CFM threshold is unconfirmed.
Explore this need in the finder →Will a 15-inch body width fit your maximum?
The product page and manual agree on body width; this is cabinet width only, before the manual's 12–18-inch placement clearance.
Explore this need in the finder →Is 65 watts inside your rated-power ceiling?
The exact product page and manual both state 65 W; a ceiling one watt lower fails.
Explore this need in the finder →Do you want a compatible general-odor carbon filter rather than an unverified premium profile?
The exact Filter D3 replacement page confirms a general household carbon set; no separate premium profile is established.
Explore this need in the finder →Must a named Pet Allergy filter be included in the purifier box?
The manual lists a permanent pre-filter, four standard carbon sheets and one True HEPA filter; it does not name the Pet Allergy Filter with ARC Formula.
Explore this need in the finder →The Winix D360 is a mid-room purifier for people who want physical controls, a sensor-led Auto setting and no app requirement. Winix’s exact U.S. page lists the D360 at 361 square feet for its AHAM-verified 4.8-air-changes-per-hour (ACH) benchmark; the directly linked manual gives 360 square feet. I use the lower 360-square-foot figure for a strict fit. In this library that lands in the medium tier: it clears 358 square feet, but not the 606-square-foot large-room threshold. The page’s separate 1,733-square-foot one-hour claim is a much slower area example, not a substitute when repeated cleaning at 4.8 ACH matters.
Capacity and physical fit
The 4.8-ACH number describes a repeated-cleaning comparison rather than a guarantee for every open plan. The manufacturer notes that its AHAM basis uses an eight-foot ceiling and tobacco-smoke testing. Connected rooms, high ceilings, closed doors, furniture and the speed you will tolerate change how a room behaves. The page publishes dust, pollen and smoke CADR values of 233, 230 and 235, but it does not state a unit beside those numbers in its technical table. They are therefore retained as page values, not represented here as a generic CFM rating. If a CFM minimum is essential, the missing unit matters.
Winix lists a 15-inch width, 21-inch height, 13-pound weight and 65-watt rated input. Depth is less settled: the product page gives 10.4 inches while the manual gives 9.5 inches. Do not use either number to clear a tight shelf or alcove until the exact cabinet measurement is confirmed. The manual also asks for 12–18 inches from walls and nearby electronics, a hard level surface, indoor placement away from direct sun, and unobstructed intake and outlet. The necessary clearance is larger than the body dimensions alone.
Controls that suit an offline routine
The D360 has local buttons, no listed Wi-Fi or app feature, and no listed timer. Winix’s page calls out five fan speeds, while the manual names Low, Medium, High, Turbo and Sleep in its speed-button sequence; Auto is a separate selectable mode. Choose Auto if you want the unit to react without phone access: the manual identifies the Smart Sensor as detecting odorous gas and adjusting the fan among low, medium and high. It does not document particle-specific Auto, a TVOC readout or a numeric PM2.5 display on the purifier.
A three-color LED is the feedback route: blue for good, amber for fair and red for poor air quality. A separate ambient-light sensor can move the unit from Auto into Sleep when the room darkens and return it to Auto when the room brightens. In Sleep the air-quality indicator goes dark and the fan drops below Low. The page’s 25 dB figure is a minimum only; Winix does not publish a maximum across settings. So this can suit someone who wants a low-light routine, but not a shopper whose strict top-end sound limit has to be verified. Auto also takes about four minutes to settle after startup according to the manual.
Filter routine and exact replacements
The three filtration stages are a washable fine-mesh pre-filter, an activated-carbon layer and a True HEPA filter. The official D3 replacement set, part 1712-0101-02, is explicitly compatible with the D360. The page title carries an older-looking “-00” suffix, but the product URL and compatibility copy identify the D3 “-02” part; use that exact part number. Its replacement page describes one HEPA filter plus four carbon sheets as a one-year set; Winix recommends replacing the carbon about every three months and the HEPA around every 12 months. The pre-filter is permanent: vacuum or soft-brush it about every 14 days, and if you rinse it, let it dry for at least 24 hours. Do not wash the carbon or HEPA media. The manual says to reset the HEPA replacement indicator after installing a new filter.
The D3 page describes its carbon stage as reducing household odors from cooking, pets and smoke, but it does not establish a separately named specialty filter family for this D360. The basic carbon stage is useful context; it is not evidence of a Pet Allergy filter in the box or a premium-odor replacement. Keep the recurring filter task in the decision: a washable pre-filter still needs regular attention, and the carbon consumable is on a shorter interval than the HEPA.
Who should shortlist it?
Shortlist the D360 if the room is within the conservative 360-square-foot 4.8-ACH figure, you prefer a no-app physical-control machine, and odor-responsive Auto plus light-triggered Sleep match your household routine. Look at the larger D480 if your room is above that threshold but remains within 480 square feet; its separate assessment explains its larger body, higher rated input and distinct D4 filter. Consider another model if you require an app, numeric on-unit particle readings, particle-specific Auto, an explicit CFM rating, a verified maximum-noise ceiling or a particular pet/premium replacement profile. A strict depth fit is also unresolved because the product page and manual disagree.
Winix’s U.S. page displayed the D360 as in stock on October 24, 2026; that is a dated page observation, not a promise of continuing availability. The same page lists a two-year warranty. This is an indoor purifier for ordinary room air, not a substitute for ventilation or source control.
