Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Is the T830 a reasonable medium-room purifier if I want both app access and on-unit fine-dust feedback?
Winix lists the 418-sq-ft 4.8-ACH rating, but also shows 410 sq ft elsewhere on this same product page. The conservative lower published value is still above the 358-sq-ft medium threshold; it is not a large-room choice.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the T830 offer a higher cleaning-area rating than the T810?
No higher rating is documented. The T830 and T810 pages/manual family publish the same body and filter platform; their main confirmed visible difference is the rendered intake accent.
Explore this need in the finder →Does T830 Auto monitor odors or gases?
Winix describes a fine-dust sensor and numeric PM2.5-style readout, not a separate odor/gas sensor. A gas-responsive Auto requirement is not established.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I keep the number readout and use the four-color indicator too?
The exact page describes both numeric fine-dust and four-color feedback. The numerical value is product feedback, not a calibrated outside measurement.
Explore this need in the finder →Can T830 operate without Wi-Fi or an app?
The page includes Wi-Fi and app support, but the shared manual documents physical mode and fan buttons for local operation. A strict no-app model requirement is not met.
Explore this need in the finder →Will the T830 run on an automatic timer?
Winix lists no timer. The light sensor can trigger Sleep behavior in a dark room, which is different from a scheduled off timer.
Explore this need in the finder →What should I check before ordering a T830 replacement filter?
The listed matching part is Filter R 1712-0118-00, named for T830 by Winix; confirm this exact number instead of relying on a generic cylindrical-filter description.
Explore this need in the finder →Is the T830 suited to an essential premium odor-carbon requirement?
No separate premium, smoke-targeted or pet-odor cartridge is documented for T830; its Filter R is described as a general activated-carbon stage.
Explore this need in the finder →The Winix T830 is a Wi-Fi-capable cylinder with a numeric fine-dust display, four-color air-quality light and replaceable Filter R canister. Its published room rating and operating plan closely track the T810; the blue-accent intake is a visible distinction, not proof of faster cleaning. The exact U.S. product page showed the offer out of stock when checked.
Start with the exact model and current offer
Winix’s U.S. listing identifies standalone T830 SKU 1022-0230-03, and the shared T810/T820/T830 manual names all three models. That does not turn them into one SKU. The T830 page marked its offer out of stock on October 24, 2026. Verify the model and suffix with a seller; an exact-model search is not confirmation of stock or package condition.
A medium-room cylinder, not a large-room substitute
The manufacturer’s main specification panel and the current shared manual list 418 square feet at 4.8 air changes per hour, under Winix’s stated eight-foot-ceiling basis. Yet the exact T830 page is internally inconsistent: its room-size artwork and a lower passage still say 410 square feet. I use 410 square feet as the conservative lower published figure for strict comparisons. Either figure clears the questionnaire’s 358-square-foot medium-room tier, but neither approaches 606 square feet for a large room. Winix also presents larger area-and-time examples at slower cleaning rates; those do not convert the T830 into a 606-square-foot, 4.8-ACH purifier. If your room sits around the 410–418 boundary, confirm the rating and ceiling assumptions with Winix rather than relying on the more favorable page number.
The 11.3-inch-diameter, 20.4-inch-high body weighs 10.2 pounds. Its round intake needs breathing room on all sides: the manual calls for a hard, level indoor surface and roughly 12–18 inches from walls and nearby electronics. It is compact in footprint, but not a flush-against-the-wall choice. Leave the top outlet clear too.
Useful feedback, with a particle-sensor limit
Winix describes a fine-dust sensor, numeric display down to PM2.5 and a color light. Auto adjusts fan speed from sensed air quality, and the physical controls also provide Low, Medium, High and Turbo. Wi-Fi, the Smart App and voice-platform support are listed, but the buttons let you operate it locally; app access is a capability, not the only way to turn on the purifier. A light sensor can activate Sleep behavior in a dark room, and the display brightness can be reduced or switched off. That is a thoughtful bedroom arrangement if you want a status number by day and a dimmer face at night.
Do not read the display as a calibrated external monitor. The manual cautions that its displayed pollution value can differ from official institutions or vary with placement. The sensor evidence is about fine particles; a separate TVOC or odor/gas sensor is not documented, so Auto should not be treated as an odor detector. PlasmaWave can be switched on or off at the unit. Winix reports a 0.38-ppbv eight-hour time-weighted average ozone level in a 30-m³ chamber; that is a manufacturer-stated test condition, not an independent result here. The control is not labeled as an ionizer switch, so buyers with that strict requirement should not assume it qualifies.
Filter R is the recurring ownership detail
The exact replacement is Winix Filter R, part 1712-0118-00. Winix’s compatibility page explicitly names the T830 as well as the T810, and the shared manual lists Filter R for the T810/T820/T830 family. Its all-in-one filter combines a fine-mesh pre-filter, True HEPA media and activated carbon; the company describes general household-odor reduction, not a separate smoke-targeted or pet-odor cartridge for this model. The stated replacement interval is about 12 months and will depend on the room. The pre-filter is a maintenance step, not a washable lifetime stage: vacuum or brush it as directed, and do not rinse it. The manual also describes cleaning the dust-sensor opening, which is easy to miss if you only watch the filter indicator.
The specification table gives dust, pollen and smoke CADR values of 265, 267 and 272 without a unit in that table. Do not treat those figures as confirmed CFM. Winix publishes a 23.8 dB minimum-noise figure but no maximum endpoint there, so a strict upper noise limit cannot be verified. It also lists no timer, remote or child lock. The 45-watt rated input and two-year limited warranty are documented, but do not answer those missing control or noise requirements.
Choose it for the exact fit, not a presumed upgrade
The T830 makes sense if its blue-tinted slat finish suits the room, a medium 4.8-ACH footprint is enough, and app plus local control, particle Auto and an on-unit numeric display are useful. The official render shows blue accents in the dark intake; the T810 render is visually similar but uses pale slats. Both share the same listed dimensions, capacity, filter family and core controls. I found no documented T830 performance improvement over T810, so do not pay extra or accept a longer wait on the assumption that the T830 is stronger. If either exact model returns to stock, compare the seller’s specific model number and filter contents; the T830 offer was out of stock on the page inspected here.
For a smaller room where app control is unnecessary, compare the Winix A231 or C535, but check their lower room ratings against your actual space. For a larger 4.8-ACH requirement, look beyond this T-series pair rather than relying on the one-hour coverage headline. This is a document-based assessment of a model and its instructions, not an independent filtration, sound or energy test.
