Setup and care
Blueair Classic Pro CP7i setup, sensor and filter resets
The Classic Pro CP7i is easier to live with when its filter reminder, particle display and app connection are treated as separate things. Blueair's Classic Pro support FAQ gives model-family troubleshooting steps for each. Use this as a quick reference, then confirm placement, safety and any internal cleaning in the CP7i user manual; the manual link on Blueair's support page was not retrievable when checked, so ask the manufacturer for a working copy if those instructions are needed.
Before turning it on
Start with the purifier unplugged. If you have just unpacked it, check that the protective wrapping has been removed from the filter and that the filter sits in the unit with its handles facing upward. Reattach the top and bottom fully before restoring power. Blueair's troubleshooting guidance also calls out objects or dust inside the unit, on top of it, directly against it, around the air inlets and outlets, around the sensor area and on the pre-filters. Treat those as things to clear or inspect rather than reasons to dismantle the machine. If the power cable is damaged, stop and contact Blueair instead of trying to repair it.
Once the body is closed and the cord is firmly connected, use the physical On/Standby and fan controls to verify that the unit starts and that air is leaving the outlet. The app is not a substitute for checking that the purifier is actually running. Avoid putting anything over an opening or crowding the sensor area. The CP7i product page does not provide a placement-clearance measurement, so do not invent a minimum gap from this checklist; use the manual or manufacturer support for placement in a close alcove, under furniture or beside other equipment.
Give the particle sensor time, then check it gently
The CP7i's Auto mode responds to its PM1, PM2.5 and PM10 sensor readings. It does not add the CP9i's tVOC channel, and a particle number is not a complete account of odors or every gas. On first use, Blueair says the laser sensor may take up to a day to settle into the new environment. A blue “Excellent” indication on startup is therefore not proof that the room has already been assessed or cleaned.
If a reading seems stuck or implausible, first look for dust or an object at the front sensor inlet. Blueair's advice is to unplug the purifier for about 30 seconds, gently wipe dust from the sensor area with a soft cloth, reconnect power and restart. This is a restrained check, not permission to spray cleaner into the sensor or open the cabinet. If the displayed reading still does not make sense, contact support rather than treating the display as an independent air-quality instrument.
Replace the filter before clearing its reminder
The red filter indicator is a service reminder, not a sensor reading. Replace the cartridge with the exact CP7i-compatible Particle + Carbon filter (Blueair SKU 111380); do not select a Classic-series filter only because the family name looks similar. Check the seller's package contents before ordering, because Blueair's product copy does not make the number of replacement cartridges per purchase clear.
After fitting the replacement filter, Blueair says to hold the Fan Speed control for roughly 15 seconds until the interface lights up, then release it. The filter indicator should blink three times and go out. This reset is the one to use after a filter change. Do not use a factory reset as a shortcut: Blueair's separate factory-reset procedure clears the filter timer and disconnects the purifier from the app, creating extra setup work without replacing a cartridge.
When the app will not pair
The CP7i still has on-unit controls, so an app connection problem need not prevent ordinary fan operation. For initial pairing, Blueair recommends having the phone, powered purifier and router nearby in the same room, updating the Blueair app, enabling Bluetooth and using a connected 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Blueair also advises disabling a VPN during setup. Once pairing succeeds, the purifier can be moved to its intended location. If connection attempts keep failing, check those basics before resetting the whole device; a factory reset erases the saved app connection and filter timer.
What this quick guide cannot answer
It does not specify a clearance distance, a full surface or internal cleaning schedule, or a filter-pack quantity. Those details should come from a working CP7i manual or Blueair support, not from instructions for another purifier. For room-fit and filter compatibility tradeoffs, see the Classic Pro CP7i assessment; it explains why the 609-square-foot 4.8-ACH figure is the more useful repeated-cleaning comparison and why the exact replacement-filter listing still leaves cartridge quantity to verify.
Based on Blueair's Classic Pro support FAQ, its CP7i manual lookup page, and the CP7i replacement-filter listing. The manufacturer FAQ's reset, sensor and app advice is not a substitute for model-specific safety, placement or servicing instructions.
