Model comparison
Coway Airmega 160 vs Airmega 150: same room rating, distinct model codes
The Coway Airmega 150 and Airmega 160 look like obvious capacity steps when you compare their model numbers. The current U.S. product pages do not support that assumption: both are listed at 214 square feet for 4.8 air changes per hour, 518 at two changes and 1,035 at one change. Both are compact, direct-control purifier plans with a washable pre-filter, deodorization media, HEPA media and sensor-led Auto. If your reason for switching is a larger repeated-cleaning room, check a genuinely higher rate-based rating rather than treating “160” as the upgrade.
The functional comparison is unusually close
Each product has a four-level color air-quality indicator, physical power/speed/light controls, three numbered fan speeds plus Auto, and separate reminders for deodorization and HEPA replacement. Both manuals describe sensitivity adjustment for the particle sensor and a similar filter routine: clean the pre-filter every two to four weeks, replace deodorization media around six months and HEPA media around a year, with actual life affected by use. The official replacement set page explicitly covers both models. These details make maintenance and ordinary operation more similar than the model numbers imply.
There is one useful caution around repeated-rate fit: both miss a strict 219-square-foot 4.8-ACH minimum at their published 214-square-foot area. Their 1,035-square-foot headline is a one-change-per-hour rating, not a way around that shortfall. If you need 358 square feet at 4.8 ACH, compare a larger model such as the Coway Airmega 200M, which is listed at 361 square feet on that basis; its own page/manual and footprint should be checked separately.
Choose by exact identity, offer and room—not a generation story
The 150's U.S. manual identifies the AP-1019C family with W/K/P suffixes; the 160 manual prints Airmega 160(W) and Airmega 160(N). Coway's current product records list Dove White, Sage Green and Peony Pink offers for the 150, and Dove White and Port Navy offers for the 160. The exact model/offer pages inspected do not map every finish SKU to a suffix, so keep those identifiers separate when ordering parts. The 150 & 160 replacement set is shared, but that does not make the purifier bodies or model manuals identical.
Room sizing may not decide between them. If both fit, compare the finish that suits your room, the exact offer and the manual code on the unit you are buying. If you need a connected app, a numeric PM2.5 value or an explicitly unitized generic-CFM minimum, neither model's own checked page and manual establish that requirement. The color light can be turned off on both; that is not the same as a sleep mode or a numeric monitor. If your essential room threshold is above 214 square feet at 4.8 ACH, move to a larger rating instead of deciding between these two.
Two similar routines, with real ongoing care
Neither is a maintenance-free appliance. Keep the washable pre-filter clean and completely dry, replace the two non-washable filter stages on their separate schedules, and clean the sensor about every two months. Coway's shared replacement offer contains one Green True HEPA filter and two deodorization filters; check its current exact product description before ordering. Do not assume that a compatible set means a specialty pet or smoke cartridge is included. The physical shell measurements also understate installation space: each manual calls for side clearance and open intake/outlet paths.
The Airmega 150 is the better choice only when its exact offer, finish, or already-owned unit is the one you need; the 160 is the better choice when its specific White/Navy listing and model identity suit the purchase. Neither is the clear winner by room capacity from the rate figures inspected. For a higher published repeated-cleaning room size, compare the 200M review; for an app-first choice, shortlist a model whose exact own documentation shows the connected control path.
