Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Does the Core 200S-P meet a compact-room requirement of at least 140 ft² at 4.8 air changes per hour?
Levoit's white and black US pages publish 140 ft² at 4.8 ACH. The same pages show 672 ft² at one air change per hour, a slower rate. Use 140 for a faster-room comparison and account for ceiling height, doorways, placement and the fan setting you will use.
Explore this need in the finder →Do I need app schedules and remote control without requiring a particle sensor or Auto Mode?
The Core 200S-P links to VeSync and optional Alexa/Google control, with schedules and app timers. Its manual does not document a particle sensor, Auto Mode or numeric PM2.5 display, so the connected features do not make it a sensor-driven purifier.
Explore this need in the finder →Does its body meet a 9-inch width maximum if I can still provide the required airflow clearance?
The body is listed at 8.1 inches wide. That alone does not make a nine-inch cabinet opening a valid location: the manual asks for at least 15 inches of clearance on every side.
Explore this need in the finder →The Levoit Core 200S-P is a compact, app-connected purifier for a room where its published 140-square-foot rating at 4.8 air changes per hour is enough. It adds remote controls, schedules and a night light, but not a particle sensor or automatic air-quality mode. That distinction matters: the 200S-P is the connected small-room choice, not a smaller version of a sensor-led purifier.
A 140-square-foot repeated-air-change rating
Levoit lists 90 CFM CADR, 140 square feet at 4.8 ACH and 672 square feet at one ACH. Those area figures describe different rates. For a faster repeated-air-change comparison, use the 140-square-foot figure, not the much larger one-change headline. High ceilings, open doorways, furniture near the intake and a quieter fan setting can all change the practical fit. A more open floor plan may need more than one purifier; this product page does not establish a result for your particular room.
The body is 8.1 inches wide and deep and 12.6 inches high, with a listed weight of 6.6 pounds. That makes it easier to carry from room to room than the larger Core cylinders, but it does not belong inside a narrow cabinet. The manual asks for at least 15 inches of clearance on every side. Plan for the intake and top outlet, not only for the body to squeeze into a shelf space.
Smart controls without automatic particle response
Physical buttons cycle through three fan speeds and operate Sleep Mode, a 2-, 4- or 8-hour timer, display lock and display-off controls. The touch display uses indicators rather than a numeric PM2.5 reading. The manual describes the night light with two brightness levels. Sleep Mode dims the display after several seconds and runs the fan at a quieter speed; it is a preset, not a sensor deciding when the room is clean.
VeSync adds remote control, schedules and app timers, and the product can link to Alexa or Google Assistant. Setup requires a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. That can be useful when you want to start or schedule the purifier without walking back to it. But the 200S-P manual does not document a particle sensor, Auto Mode or an app PM2.5 reading. If you want automatic fan changes in response to particles, compare the Core 300S-P; it has a higher 219-square-foot 4.8-ACH rating and a documented AirSight Plus sensor with Auto Mode. If you do not want connected controls, the direct-control Core 300-P offers a similar small-room tier without app setup.
Plan for filter care and placement
The box includes one pre-installed main filter. Before the first run, remove its protective plastic wrapping, reinstall it with the cover locked and choose a flat, stable surface. The three layers are a nylon pre-filter, a main particle filter and an activated-carbon layer. Levoit describes the first layer as capturing larger material such as hair and lint; the main filter handles particles including fine dust and pollen; carbon is intended to adsorb smoke, fumes and household odors. It is passive filtration, not a gas sensor, and it should not be treated as a guarantee against every odor or airborne compound.
Brush or vacuum the outside pre-filter every two to four weeks. The manual gives six to eight months as the usual interval for checking and replacing the main filter, but dustier conditions or signs such as reduced airflow, unusual odor or visible buildup can call for earlier attention. Do not wash the main filter or clean the interior with water. The check-filter light is a reminder to inspect; it does not measure how much particle capacity remains. The recurring filter cost and 15-inch all-side clearance are part of the ownership plan, not optional details.
White and black variants share the same manual
Levoit lists the white configuration as SKU HEAPAPLVSUS0165Y, GTIN 810043372190, and the black configuration as SKU HEAPAPLVSUS0164Y, GTIN 810043375481. Both exact US pages call the appliance Core 200S-P and identify the model as Core 200S. Each links the same manual, whose cover names Core 200S and model LAP-C201S-AUSR; the shared manual file also carries both 0165Y and 0164Y identifiers. The pages publish the same room ratings, CADR and body dimensions, so the black finish is treated as a finish variant rather than a different operating model.

One specification conflict to keep visible
Both product pages list 37 watts, while the linked US manual lists 45 watts for Core 200S/LAP-C201S-AUSR. No revision or SKU explanation resolves the difference, so rated input power is left unconfirmed. If a maximum-wattage limit is essential, do not count this model as meeting it until Levoit clarifies which rating applies to the offered unit. The product page lists 27–48 dB, 120 V/60 Hz and operation between 14 and 104°F below 85% relative humidity; use the same manual's placement and environment rules when setting it up.
Choose the 200S-P when a 140-square-foot 4.8-ACH rating is sufficient and you expect to use its app schedule or remote control. Move up to the 300S-P if your room needs the higher published 4.8-ACH rating or if particle-responsive Auto Mode is important. Choose the 300-P if simple physical controls are preferable to Wi-Fi. Our Core 200S-P versus 300S-P guide sets out those connected-model tradeoffs side by side. None of these Core choices substitutes for ventilation or source control, and carbon filtration does not mean the unit can sense gases.

| Manufacturer filter-check/replacement guidance | Brush or vacuum the outer nylon pre-filter every 2–4 weeks. The manual says to check the main filter and gives 6–8 months as the usual replacement interval; dustier use or reduced airflow, unusual odor or visible clogging can call for earlier inspection/replacement. Do not wash the filter. |
| Important specification note | Rated input power is unresolved: the exact product pages list 37 W and the linked US manual lists 45 W for the Core 200S/LAP-C201S-AUSR series. |
| Placement and care | Indoor household use on a flat, stable surface. Remove the main filter's plastic wrap and twist the cover closed before use. Keep at least 15 in/38 cm clearance on all sides, humidity below 85% RH and operation within 14–104°F. Vacuum or brush only the outside pre-filter; do not clean the main filter with water. Inspect the filter when its indicator turns on, not as a measured remaining-capacity gauge. |
