Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Does its room-size information establish a 4.8-ACH minimum for my room?
No. Levoit publishes pollutant-specific CADRs and a troubleshooting note that larger than 330 ft² takes longer, but no 4.8-ACH room area. An essential minimum room rating remains unknown.
Explore this need in the finder →Can it play built-in nature-sound white noise while the purifier continues to run?
Yes. The manual documents five Baby Sleep Mode presets and adjustable white-noise volume. In the standard sequence the sound and light switch off after 30 minutes while purification continues; app settings can customize the preset and duration.
Explore this need in the finder →Does its on-unit number show PM2.5 concentration?
No numeric PM2.5 concentration is documented on the unit. Its display shows AQI as an algorithm based on particle and TVOC signals, alongside a four-color air-quality indicator.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I use the adjustable night light and app control in the same operating plan?
Yes. The exact model supports physical light controls and VeSync app adjustment of brightness, color temperature, presets and other purifier settings.
Explore this need in the finder →Will a nine-inch body-width limit fit before allowing for airflow clearance?
The listed body is 8.7 inches wide. That is a body measurement only; the manual still asks for 15 inches of open space on every side.
Explore this need in the finder →The Levoit Sprout is a small connected room purifier whose unusual draw is its combination of air cleaning with a night light and built-in nature-sound white noise. The physical controls let you run it without opening the app, but its air-quality feedback and the extra sleep-mode adjustments make the VeSync connection more than a bonus. Levoit lists smoke, dust and pollen CADRs of 85, 90 and 109 CFM respectively, and identifies the US model as LAP-B851S-WNA (offer SKU HEAPAPLVSUS0168Y).
Choose it for the sound-and-light routine, not a room-size headline
The Sprout page publishes pollutant-specific CADR figures and says the model is AHAM Verifide, but it does not give a maximum room area at 4.8 air changes per hour. The manual’s troubleshooting section says cleaning will take longer in a space above 330 square feet; that is not an equivalent 4.8-ACH rating or a defined room-capacity claim. If a minimum repeated-air-change room rating is essential, the finder should not treat this model’s unpublished area as a pass. The Vital 100S-P, by contrast, has a published 222-square-foot 4.8-ACH rating. The Sprout-versus-Vital comparison explains why those are different buying questions.
Keep the three numbers in their pollutant categories: the 109-CFM pollen value is not a general “109-CFM purifier” rating, and it does not supply the missing 4.8-ACH room area.
Lights and sound are real controls, with a defined routine
The manual documents a built-in night light, with a default 50% brightness and 2750K color temperature; the app can adjust brightness, color temperature and mode. It also has five Baby Sleep Mode presets, adjustable white-noise volume, and app settings for the presets and their duration. The manual’s ordinary sequence turns the display off after six seconds and, after 30 minutes, switches off the night light and white noise while continuing to purify. If you expect the sound and light to run for hours, set and check the app routine rather than assuming the default preset stays active all night.
These are built-in household controls, not evidence of a sleep or health benefit. “Baby Sleep Mode” does not make the purifier a child monitor; its sensor reports air-quality information, not breathing or a medical condition.
What the sensor reports—and what Auto Mode does
On the purifier, the digital number is an AQI value with a separate four-color quality indicator, not a numeric PM2.5 concentration. The manual says that its AirSight Pro sensor detects PM1.0, PM2.5, PM10 and TVOCs and combines those readings into an AQI algorithm. Levoit’s product page additionally advertises real-time updates for CO2, humidity and temperature in its multi-factor detection. Do not read the AQI as a precise concentration display or as identification of the source of a change. The carbon stage and TVOC feedback are different things: adsorption is not proof the sensor recognizes every gas, and a TVOC signal does not identify a particular compound.
Four physical fan speeds and standard Auto Mode are available on the unit. The purifier raises its speed as the AQI category worsens. In the app, Quiet Auto limits the fan to level three; Efficient Auto uses a room-size schedule based on one air change before returning to sensor-based adjustments. The manual specifically says its sensor cannot detect smells, so Efficient Auto’s time-based start is the odor-oriented option—not a gas-specific alarm. If you want app control, setup requires Bluetooth and a secure 2.4-GHz Wi-Fi network; remote control, schedules, four weeks of history and voice-assistant links are app functions. A display lock stops local button changes, but the app can still change settings while the lock is on.
Placement and filter upkeep still set the routine
The white body measures 8.7 by 8.7 by 14 inches and weighs 6.4 pounds. Although it is physically compact, the manual asks for at least 15 inches of clearance on every side, so it is not a close-fit shelf appliance. Place it on a flat, stable indoor surface with the side inlets and top outlet clear. Operating limits are 14–104°F and no more than 85% relative humidity. Levoit lists 18 watts and 22–50 dB; the manual agrees. One adapter detail differs: the product page’s adapter line lists a 24V, 2.5A output, while the manual’s listed adapter models say 24V, 1.5A. Use the adapter supplied with the unit rather than choosing a generic replacement from one line of the table.
One pre-installed 3-stage HEPA filter and the AC adapter are included. Levoit describes a pre-filter for larger lint, fibers and hair, a HEPA stage with its stated particle-capture figures, and activated carbon for adsorption of odors and fumes. Those are manufacturer filter claims, not a guarantee that it will remove every gas or cure an odor source. The manual says to clean the pre-filter with a soft brush or vacuum hose every two to four weeks, not water; check the main filter at about six to eight months and sooner if higher pollution reduces its useful life. The dedicated Sprout purifier replacement filter is separately listed under SKU HEACAFLVNUS0112Y. Clean the sensor about every three months. Avoid an ultrasonic humidifier nearby if you use Auto Mode: its mist can affect the particle sensor.
Who should shortlist it?
Shortlist the Sprout when adjustable ambient light, built-in nature sounds, app scheduling and AQI feedback matter in the same compact purifier. It provides direct controls as well, so the purifier itself does not require a phone for basic fan operation. Skip it as a hard match if you need a confirmed 4.8-ACH room-area figure, a numeric on-unit PM2.5 value, or a tight footprint that cannot leave the required clearance. A room-focused choice like the Vital 100S-P offers a published repeated-turnover area but not this documented light-and-white-noise combination. The Core 200S-P is another app-connected model with a published room rating, but it has a different set of physical controls and no Sprout-style built-in sound/light routine.
